"FEAR IS FREEDOM! CONTROL IS RELEASE! CONTRADICTION IS TRUTH!" - Satsuki

Summary

2 teens, Ryuuko who, with half of her father's experimental weapon, a Scissor Blade, has a chip on her shoulder against her father's killer. Then there is Satsuki, the other teen who "believed" that clothes make the human and created Honnouji Academy. There are darker forces beyond these women's comprehension at work behind the scenes.

Characters

Ryuuko

17, who is a hot blooded delinquent and has a vendetta against her father's killer.

Senketsu ["fresh blood"]

A living sailor uniform which is called a Kamui ("God Clothes"), an outfit that provides its wearer with godlike abilities in exchange for coupious amounts of the  wearer's blood. He has the ability to transform into an indestructible suit of armor, the only issue that Ryuuko has is that it gives her skimpy appearance.

Satsuki

18, the Student Council President of Honnouji Academy. She rules her academy with an iron first, decides and issues clothing that enhance the students' abilities, abilities and powers that surpass that of regular humans.

 Side Characters

Mako

An air-head 2nd year student, so her random and unimaginable actions never cease to shock and awe the people around her. She strongly believes that she and Ryuko are best of friends even though they met the first day Ryuuko arrived to Honnouji Academy.

The 4 under Satsuuki

Ira Gamagoori

He is the Head of the Public Morals Committee. He sworn absolute loyalty to the Student Council President.

Houka Inumuta

He is the Student Council Secretary and Intelligence and Strategic Analyst. He always try to use the least effort to achieve the greatest results.

Nonon Jakuzure

She regulates the school's non-athletic groups. Nonon also runs the school's the marching band. Nonon's Three-Star Goku Uniform resembles that of a drum majorette. Her baton is not just for show, as Nonon is a conductor as well.[I think my fav.]

Uzu Sanageyama

Head of the Sports Club.

 Antagonists

Nui Harime

the Grand Couturier of the Revocs Corporation. She is known for her cute appearance, sadistic yet childish nature, and incredible fighting power.

Ragyou

The head of the Kiryuuin family. CEO of the major clothes company of the world. Mindset that clothes "make" the person.

Art

Intense action scens, there are points of still images which to me did not bother
The COPIOUS amount of body shots of men, women, and teens in this. This can be a stun factor at first [which was my first reaction], but it can also ruin a viewing.

Music

Soundtrack, very good! Openings and Endings...eh not bad but for me not MIND blowing.

Some other thoughts:

I initially thought that Kill La Kill and Gurren Laegann were produced by the same studio. :o *shame shame* hehehehe. The art looked similar, but I've heard that Trigger was started by 2 people who worked at Ginax, which is why I got the two shows put under one studio.

I do not understand the super pedo moments by Nui and Ragyou. They are super suggestive with both Ryuuko and Satsuki. They are teenagers! I do not want to see adults fondle teenagers... bleh...

"The fact you are embarrassed by the values of the masses only proves how small you are.."- Satsuki Kiryuin, Kill La Kill.

I get the showing the other gaze though. Also, it shows the metaphor for maturing of the characters an what comes with those experiences.

The very last scenes of the fights felt rushed and gave me a "what?!! confused" face.

Still scratching head on why they chose the those choices and directions they did near the end...
