Summary
Where to start... Three teen warriors of Melos, their human shapeshifting machine companions (except the main character's machine does not transform], and one useless bullheaded sidekick, fight against the monsters in a constant never ending cycle of war. The monsters ask humans and seek out children as sacrifices for their power for the continued control of the world. Which the Meols Warriors foil their ploys for power.
There is also girl trapped by the monsters who can, that if she is freed, could then unleash a
power that could wipe out all the monsters who is called the 'Melody of
Oblivion.'

Characters ~ The Warriors
Bocca
Our main warrior.
Brave, has a drive for adventure, and a pure minded young man. He drops out of high school to pursue his dreams of becoming a Melos Warrior. Bocca who longed to be a warrior fights against
the injustices he saw in the world. During this adventure he comes to understand and see what damage the monsters have done, learns of the humans who have pledged
allegiance to the enemy by willingly give children away just to keep the peace, and meets other Melos Warriors. He also comes to terms with what he wants to accomplish to better his future and who he wants to spend his future with.
His Aibar machine is Elan Vital. No real human form.
Ted Sroka is Bocca's voice actor. He has voiced Koukin Shuuyu from Ikkitousen.

Sayoko
A teenage girl who travels with Bocca to seek her love, Kurofune. She was given
as a sacrifice to the monsters by her abusive parents so that her brother's
chances of becoming a Monster Union agent would increase. Kurofune rescued her and she
fell in love with him. Sayoko has chains from when she was almost sacrificed that with them she can track Kurofune. They will point
to wherever Kurofune is. During the journey, Sayoko develops a
budding relationship with Bocca.
Carrie Savage is Sayoko's voice actress. She has voiced Lisanna Strauss [Fairy Tail series], Hakufu [Ikkitousen], and Mokona [XXX Holic series!]

Kurofune
Lone wolf Melos warrior. Fights alone against the Monster union. Inspired Bocca to be a Melos Warrior.
His Aibar machine is Jaguar Sun.
Patrick Seitz is Kurofune's voice actor. He has voiced Sloth [FMA:B], Laxus [Fairt Tail series], and Keith Shadis [Attack on Titan].

Toune
A quiet girl who is proficient and knowledgeable with the bow. She heavily despises the Melos Warriors upon first meeting Bocca and Sayoko. However, it is revealed that hatred her for the Melos Warriors comes from her true feelings; she is not able to accept the boy she is in love with is an Aibar Machine named Sky Blue. During a confrontation with a Monster Union agent she accepts these feelings and fills the role of being a Melos Warrior with the help of Bocca and Sayoko.
Her Aibar machine is Sky Blue.
Tricia Dickspn is Tone's dub voice actress. She has voiced Shimei Ryomou [Ikkitousen series], and Nenene Sumiregawa [Read Or Die].

Koko
A playful girl with a feisty attitude and risqué humor. She teases and flirts a lot with Bocca. Koko is a master when it comes to understanding the duties and workings of the Melos Warriors even if she is young. She is accompanied by three Unicorn-series Aibar machines: Hikari,
Nick, and Kuron which Koko awakened. Together they
form the armed theatrical group Chentauro.
Her main Aibar machine is Hikari.
Stephanie Sheh is Koko's dub voice actress. She has voiced Hinata [Naruto series], Usagi [Sailor Moon Redo and Crystal], and Oriheme [Bleach]

Art
First, there is not a good 720p version so it was kinda scratchy, but that did not deter me away from watching. The visuals can be very trippy at times. Below are just a few examples of how odd I thought some scenes were drawn.

The sound and music is, well... nothing really memorable, but there's nothing that will remind you of a symphony orchestra.
To be 100% honest, I did watch this is dub because I did want to rush finishing this anime by the first few episodes, so I did not watch the Japanese dub.

Two other roles that are not as important to the story, but important voice actors that are in the industry, are as follows:
Michelle Ruff is the dub voice actress of the Melody of Oblivion. She has voiced Luna [Sailor Moon 1990's version], Fujiko [Lupin III Series] and Zoe [Digimon Frontier].

My Final Thoughts
I wanted something different from my last show Saiki K...and BOY this did not disappoint in that regaurd. BUT, was this a fun ride? No, not really. I do not know how this series was green lit back in 2004.
I wouldn’t blame anyone to stop watching if this content
made them uncomfortable. There were multiple occasions I questioned my viewing of this series even.
It is REALLY creepy with adults using children..oh wait...it happens in real life too. :( But it is REALLY suggestive with the children. An example is
a snap of a monsters fingers the clothes just DROP instantly. Many of
the adults are creepily suggestive to the children or 'sacrifices' to
the monsters. Which, adults can be monsters.
I do understand the cultiness of this show does play a part in the "one of us" mentality for the Monster Union and sacrafices humans make to keep the rest humanity safe from the humans' perspective. Heck the first arc is about a small town being grateful to the monsters because they brought fotunre and sustainability to the townspeople, provided at the expenses of thier OWN CHILDREN become sacrafices. The town boo-ed Bocca and Sayoko out after defening the monster agent. I guess people would be more willing to turn on others rather than overthrow a corrupt system and create a more peaceful society.
A small point I found was through out the locations Bocca and Sayoko, humans would wear masks. When humans were abiding by the monsters rules, there were many mask representations. This made me feel that humans are loosing thier sense of identity in a controled society, which was also a theme. Just seeing examples of everyone wearing a monkey mask in a few scences just cooperating to be slaves to keep the peace or riding a train with gas masks on.
I will say this, even though this series did combin my favorite genre Horror which did NOT feel like Horror, and my least favorite Mecha genre, this did hit the spot for mecha in my opinion. I do not hate the mecha genre, but for me solely buildem up
robot and fight head to head in said robots for entertainment does not sound like a complete fun time for me in anime.
